The Physics of the Trumpet

Our work on the physics of the trumpet has been focused on understanding the vibrations of the bell and their importance to the sound of the instrument. Additionally, we have studied the input impedance of the trumpet and have built a computer model to investigate how changing the physical parameters of the trumpet will change the input impedance. For those interested in the physics of the trumpet we regularly publish articles written for non-scientists in the International Trumpet Guild Journal. The more technical aspects of our work is published in scientific journals.
