I have been employed by Rollins College since 1994. I was first hired as an Administrative Assistant to the Department of Physics and the Director of the (then) Computer Services (Thomas Danford). I later became the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Information Technology (Les Lloyd) for 2 years while continuing to support the Department of Physics. Currently, I am supporting the Department of Physics on the first floor of the A. G. Bush Science Center and the Department of Chemistry on the third floor of Bush.
BACKGROUND:
I was born in Massachusetts and raised on the Mason/Hendrikssen
family fruit and vegetable farms in Southwick, Mass., and Narpes, Finland. (Yes,
it's true--Pam is just a little ole' farm gal!)
EDUCATION:
Associate in Science Degree (Medical Technology), Holyoke Community College, Holyoke, Massachusetts, 1978.
Associate in Arts Degree (Slavic Languages), Defense Language Institute (DLI), Department of Defense, Presidio of Monterey, Monterey, California, 1984.
PREVIOUS
EMPLOYMENT:
I have had a long and varied work history.
Among other things, I have been a ‘tube’ girl, an orderly in a
psychiatric facility, an assistant to a morgue pathologist, a cocktail waitress,
and a coordinator for a migrant farm workers’ education program.
I was a sergeant in the United States Air Force and
worked as a foreign language translator (Czechoslovakian) for 7 years.
While in the military, I saw duty in Augsburg, Bodenmais, and Gablingen,
Germany; stateside, I served at the National Security Agency (NSA) in Fort
George Meade, Maryland, and also saw duty in San Angelo, Texas, and the Presidio
of Monterey, California.
Before relocating to Florida (due to a
“downsizing” measure) and joining the College, I was a customer service
representative at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company for 5 years.
Presently, I live in Winter Park, Florida, with two of my largest statues (I am a collector): a 24-inch tall stone angel that “guards” my front door and a 100-pound gargoyle I call Sebastian.
